THE THREAT TO BIODIVERSITY GROWS

The problem:

The planet is facing a loss of species unparalleled since the great extinctions of the ice ages and other cataclysms. Much of the destruction is caused by humans and modern development.

The rich tapestry of animals and plants we love as our home, the Earth, is threatened as never before by global warming and the loss of habitat to surging human populations. Worldwide, species struggle to find room to feed and reproduce.

In the tropics—where most of the biodiversity is—eco-tourism itself has become a threat. Third world infrastructures are over taxed by thousands of visitors, with sewage in the water and increased damming of wild rivers for hydro-electric as some of the results.

CONSERVATION BUYERS TO THE RESCUE

The Solution:

Parks and current reserves are not enough to sustain viable wildlife populations, and cannot insure that species will survive and that endangered species will recover.

A network of lands connecting parks and crucial nesting and breeding areas is needed. Efforts are underway to create such 'biological corridors.' This provides a meaningful way for individuals to make a contribution to the future survival of species such as the Jaguar.

FUTURE JAGUAR works with those who want to be 'conservation buyers,' and purchase land as dedicated habitat, or manage their existing land for the benefit of wildlife.

We also accept donations from those who want to help us purchase important threatened habitat for bioreserves.
